Commentary
Business year 2022/23 marked a recent peak with €18.2 billion in revenue and €1.2 billion in profit after tax. The following year (2023/24) saw weaker demand from European automotive and construction customers and lower steel prices, taking revenue down to €16.7 billion and profit to €0.5 billion. Earlier years reflect the COVID-19 downturn (2019/20, 2020/21) and the subsequent steel cycle rebound. Capex is increasingly directed toward the greentec steel programme.
